Description
The synchronous generators are built in Bremen for power plants, industrial energy centres and ships. They are driven by gas, steam and hydraulic turbines as well as diesel engines. The manufacturer stresses high efficiency, stable operation and durability even in the harshest environmental conditions, low noise level and easy access to all components during repair. Selection requires the power, voltage, type of drive and installation conditions.
The four-pole generator series covers ratings of 4000–60,000 kVA at a speed of 1500 rpm and voltages up to 15 kV. All standard designs, degrees of protection and cooling methods are available, for indoor and outdoor installation. Depending on the requirements, the machine is built with a cylindrical or salient-pole rotor; in the salient-pole version the poles are replaced individually, and a generously sized damper cage prevents problems in parallel operation with other generators or with the grid.
The generator is supplied with a matched excitation system, either compound or with a permanent magnet pilot exciter (PMG), with analogue or digital regulation. At the customer's request, generator protection and a complete control cabinet with a regulator and synchronisation are added, which gives high control dynamics. Excitation is brushless as standard; a version with brushes is supplied on request. Insulation is made using VPI technology, and the exciters are easily accessible and quickly replaced. Symmetrical ventilation of the active parts and windings gives uniform heating and extends service life.
The design is individual, taking the grid parameters into account, and in a retrofit the machine can be fitted to existing foundations. For hazardous areas zones 1 and 2 there are Ex px, Ex pz, Ex e and Ex nA versions according to ATEX (Directive 2014/34/EU), IECEx and the IEC/EN 60079 series. Examples of deliveries. A 51,430 kVA, 1500 rpm generator weighing 80 t for the steam turbine of a paper mill. A 28,800 kVA, 1500 rpm generator for a geothermal power plant, designed for ATEX zone 2 and seismic zone UBC 4. Main marine generators of 15,000 and 10,200 kVA, 514 rpm for cruise ships.
