Description

General-purpose generators work at steam and gas power plants, nuclear power plants, and in marine and transport systems. The manufacturer offers synchronous generators where precise voltage regulation is needed, and asynchronous ones, which stand out for simple operation and robust design. According to the manufacturer, the total installed capacity of the generators supplied is about 1.8 GW.

For steam and gas power plants the upper output limit of synchronous generators is 50 000 kVA. A steam turbine converts the pressure and kinetic energy of steam into shaft rotation, and the generator it drives produces electricity. The heat source for producing steam can be coal, gas, biogas, waste or nuclear energy. The general range of synchronous generators covers output up to 30 MW, voltage up to 13.8 kV and speed 100–1800 rpm.

For nuclear power plants the manufacturer makes synchronous and asynchronous generators designed for zones from BT2 to BT4. They provide continuous power supply under strict safety and efficiency requirements, and the manufacturer holds a certificate of the national nuclear supervisory authority.

The versions vary. There are horizontal and vertical machines, rolling or sliding bearings, all cooling types, protection degrees IP21–IP66, and a cylindrical, salient-pole, squirrel-cage or permanent-magnet rotor. An example for thermal power is a horizontal water-cooled synchronous generator of 2909 kVA driven by a steam turbine at a chemical plant in Northern Moravia.

A separate series of asynchronous squirrel-cage generators is produced, up to 1.6 MW, up to 6.6 kV, 100–1500 rpm, for parallel and stand-alone operation. The manufacturer describes the generators as adapted to customer requirements, that is, mounting dimensions, weight and speed are agreed with the turbine and site conditions. The final parameters for a specific plant are specified on request, usually together with turbine data. A request needs the type and output of the turbine, the grid voltage and the installation conditions. Synchronous machines are suitable for replacing low-power turbogenerators at industrial CHP plants and waste-heat steam turbine units.
