Description
The manufacturer from Vsetín (Czech Republic) has produced electric rotating machines for more than 100 years and specialises in hydro generators for small hydropower plants, compatible with all types of hydro turbines, including Kaplan, Francis and Pelton. According to the manufacturer, the installed capacity of the hydro generators supplied is about 1.5 GW.
Synchronous generators are the most in-demand part of the programme. Each machine is calculated individually by a team of engineers, with priority given to high efficiency, low purchase and operating costs, compactness and minimal maintenance. The range covers output up to 30 MW, voltage up to 13.8 kV and speed 100–1800 rpm. The generators are made in horizontal and vertical versions, with a salient-pole or cylindrical rotor, and also with permanent magnets. The design is adapted to site conditions, that is, mounting dimensions, moment of inertia, weight and other parameters. Rolling or sliding bearings, all cooling types, protection degrees IP21–IP66 and a set of accessories are available.
All machines are designed and manufactured entirely at the company's own plant. The electromagnetic calculation is done by the finite element method, and the mechanical one is calculated separately. This is followed by stamping and stacking of the laminations, welding of the frames, machining, winding and impregnation of the windings, assembly and testing on the company's own test bench, installation, commissioning and service. The manufacturer began producing generators for small hydropower plants in 2002 (synchronous up to 3 MW). In 2013 it built the most powerful generator of its time for a North American hydropower plant, 11.7 MVA, 6.9 kV, and in 2015 the largest complete generator, weighing 82 t.
A GSV synchronous generator of 1160 kVA, 7000 V, 200 rpm went to the modernisation of the Rockesholm small hydropower plant in Sweden, after which annual generation increased by about 20 %. A generator of 3044 kVA, 6600 V, 375 rpm operates at the Tulila small hydropower plant on the Ruvuma river in Tanzania with two Kaplan turbines. The references include hydropower plants in Norway, Sweden, France, Greece, Slovenia and Armenia. The generator is suitable for reconstruction of Ukrainian stations, replacing the generator for the existing turbine.
