Description
The range of reactor designs is the widest in China. It includes CPR1000, M310, EPR1750, AP1000, CAP1400 (Guohe-1), ACP1000, HPR1000 (Hualong-1) and CFR600, a demonstration fast reactor. The generator is selected for the specific reactor and turbine design. According to the manufacturer, since 2005 34 domestic generators of the 1000 MW class have been commissioned in China, and more than half of them were built here. Supplies for nuclear plants are combined with other products of the same works, including pump motors. The unit rating covers the range 600–1750 MW. According to the manufacturer, its share of the Chinese market for NPP generators is 53%. Of the 34 domestic 1000 MW class generators commissioned at Chinese nuclear plants since 2005, 22 were built here.
The 1750 MW generator for the Taishan NPP (EPR reactor) has the highest unit rating in the world and was shipped in 2013. For CPR1000 and M310 units 1150 MW generators were built, including for the Ling'ao II NPP, the first 1000 MW class station with a domestic turbine set. The 1300 MW class generator for AP1000 has two excitation options, static and brushless. The 1250 MW generator for Hualong-1 was the first to pass factory type tests, in 2017.
The 1550 MW generator for Guohe-1 (CAP1400) passed type tests as a national priority project. A 660 MW generator was built for the demonstration 4th-generation fast reactor. The range includes 1000 MW class generators, much larger machines of 1250–1750 MW and smaller ones of 600–660 MW. Type tests are carried out at the works before shipment, as in the cases of Hualong-1 and Guohe-1. According to the manufacturer, the generators run continuously and stably, without failures.
Motors for main circulation pumps, AP1000 circulation pumps and main helium blowers for high-temperature reactors are also supplied for nuclear plants. Manufacturing and testing take place in Deyang (Sichuan, China) on a state-level test bench for large electrical machines. Cooling, voltage and rotational speed parameters depend on the NPP design and are not disclosed in the sources, so they are clarified for each power unit.
