Description
M-Line is a modular line of standardised hydro units for small hydropower plants. It is designed for new run-of-river stations, refurbishment of existing low-head sites and energy recovery facilities. The unit is supplied on a water-to-wire basis. This is a simplified and maximally standardised turbine-generator pair with auxiliary systems, integrated automation and actuators, pre-assembled on a mounting frame. This scheme shortens delivery times by up to 30 %, speeds up installation and commissioning, and reduces powerhouse size and construction costs.
Manufacture and testing follow the manufacturer's global standards, and the small hydropower division is located in St. Pölten (Austria). M-Line Kaplan is vertical, double-regulated (guide vanes and runner blades), with a synchronous generator on the same shaft, a gearbox being optional. Head 2–10 m, flow 2–20 m³/s, power up to 1000 kW.
M-Line Francis is horizontal, regulated by guide vanes, with a high-quality runner and standardised steel parts. Head 20–80 m, flow 0.25–3.8 m³/s, power up to 1700 kW. There are six sizes FHM-1…FHM-6 with predefined dimensions of the inlet, turbine and draft tube modules. M-Line Pelton is vertical and compact, with 3–6 nozzles and a jet deflector for load rejection. Head 80–340 m, flow 0.4–1.6 m³/s, power up to 4750 kW. Sizes Small and Medium, with generator, housing, hydraulic power unit and inlet valve modules.
The electrical part (e-BoP) is included in the supply. The standard low- and medium-voltage platform for all M-Line units includes a low-voltage switchgear, unit and line protection, synchronisation, plant-wide control, an automatic voltage regulator, AC and DC auxiliary supply, alarm signalling and remote monitoring. Island mode, UPS, variable speed and containerised versions are available as options. The manufacturer provides dimensions for designing the hydropower plant building from the first stage.
