Description
LSA series medium-voltage (MV) and high-voltage (HV) generators are intended for large diesel and gas engine gensets, including continuous-duty power plants, data centres, oil and gas facilities, industrial plants and ships. This is the upper part of the LSA series range, which the manufacturer calls its flagship product.
LSA 53.2 and LSA 54.2 are four-pole machines with a 500 mm shaft height for speeds of 1500–1800 rpm. For LSA 53.2 the stated ratings are 1700–3350 kVA in the MV version and 1575–3000 kVA in the HV version (class F temperature rise at 40 °C), with efficiency up to 97.7 % at cos φ = 1. For LSA 54.2 the figures are 3200–5000 kVA (MV) and 2900–4500 kVA (HV). In the Indian LSAP range, similar machines LSA 52.2 and LSA 53.2 are built for 6.6 and 11 kV, where LSA 52.2 gives 750–2100 kVA (600–1680 kW) and LSA 53.2 gives 1800–3250 kVA (1440–2600 kW). They have a 5/6 winding pitch, a two-bearing design, airflow of 2.5–2.8 m³/s and harmonic distortion below 5 %. For the American market, LS 641, LS 661, LS 841 and LS 941 generators are built for 367–4160 V with ratings from 700 to 5000 kW, including versions with reduced reactances for data centres.
Excitation is brushless, AREP systems with a permanent magnet inductor (PMI) or PMG. Voltage is regulated by a digital D550 regulator (D510C in the LSAP range) with ±0.25 % accuracy, grid-parallel operation functions, three-phase sensing, a data log and remote communication. The generators withstand a short-circuit current of 300 % of rated for 10 s. Insulation is class H, protection is IP23, and the design is intended for heavy-duty operation and emergency standby.
Options cover various voltages, anti-condensation heating, winding protection for aggressive environments and humidity above 95 %, special cable entry and terminal box, winding (RTD) and bearing temperature sensors, and differential current transformers. Air inlet filters (5 % derating) or filters on inlet and outlet (10 %) are possible, with IP44 protection when filters are fitted, as well as shaft height on request and custom painting.
