Description

GS series generators operate in plants with steam and gas turbines of all types, and with diesel and gas engines. The manufacturer builds on more than a century of experience in rotating machines and prepares a design for each customer's specific application, aiming at maximum efficiency and operating stability. The manufacturer's entire range covers low- and high-voltage synchronous and induction machines rated up to 60 MVA.

The GS series is rated 150–45,000 kVA, with voltage up to 15 kV, weight 1.5–160 t and 2–36 poles. Shaft height is 450–1120 mm, frame sizes 10–13. Cooling is IC01/06, IC81W, IC611 or IC31, and the degree of protection is IP23, IP24 or IP44. Mounting is horizontal or vertical. Each machine is built to the requirements of a specific application, not selected from a catalogue range. Winding insulation is the MICASYSTEM® VPI system.

All generators are built on a flexible modular structure created with computer-aided design, so a machine is quickly configured to the customer's needs. The design is calculated for the pulsating torque of a diesel or gas engine and maintains stable parallel operation.

The manufacturer also designs and delivers turnkey cogeneration and trigeneration systems, from engineering to commissioning. It selects an installation window with minimal construction work and downtime and adapts the generator to the characteristics of the plant. The technical documentation gives an example of a turnkey containerized cogeneration plant of 2.678 kW with a heat recovery boiler producing steam at 10 bar. Trigeneration combines a cogeneration plant with a chiller that uses part of the heat to produce chilled water for air conditioning or cooling. The plant has passed extended factory tests, and noise does not exceed 50 dB(A) at 10 m in open field. According to the documentation, cogeneration saves approximately 40 % of primary energy compared with buying electricity from the grid and running a gas boiler on site. Applications include industrial CHP plants and power stations, gas turbine and steam turbine plants, diesel and gas engine power stations, and biomass plants.
