Description
Generators for diesel engine drive are built for two main sectors, the auxiliary circuits of nuclear power plants and ships. The company's portfolio includes more than 2000 generators for diesel drives. On the manufacturer's page these machines are described as both induction and synchronous, and in the 2025 catalogue they are classed as special synchronous generators with diesel drive for nuclear plants, shipbuilding and other applications. Synchronous generators for nuclear plant auxiliary circuits are designed for the strict operating requirements placed on such critical facilities. For nuclear stations the company also produces welded steel components of generators and motors.
Marine synchronous generators supply shipboard systems and the electric propulsion plant. They have brushless excitation with a permanent magnet pilot exciter (PMG) and are built with a rating of up to 5000 kVA. Each machine is designed and manufactured to the requirements of the relevant classification society, so the design and documentation depend on which society supervises the ship.
Production is carried out at the company's own plant in Zagreb. There the stator laminations are punched, the stator and rotor windings are made, and vacuum pressure impregnation, machining, assembly and factory tests are performed. Documentation for the requirements of a specific project is prepared by the company's design department.
The manufacturer services diesel drive generators of its own and other makes, at the customer's site or at the plant. The scope of work includes inspection, electrical and mechanical tests before disassembly, fault diagnostics, repair or replacement of bearings, repair of stator and rotor winding insulation up to full rewinding, manufacture of spare parts and supply of a new stator or rotor. After repair, no-load tests according to IEC standards and rotor balancing are carried out. The rated voltage and the lower power limit are not given in the manufacturer's materials and are determined by the project.
The machines are used as diesel generators for nuclear plant auxiliary circuits, in ship power plants and in electric propulsion plants, as well as in other diesel drive installations. The machine type (synchronous or induction) and the design for a specific site are agreed according to the project documentation, since the sources describe the range differently.
