Indoor bushing insulators 10–35 kV, 1250–3150 A

The manufacturer produces bushing insulators of cast epoxy resin for indoor MV switchgear at 10 and 35 kV with a rated current from 1250 to 3150 A. Through them busbars and current-carrying parts pass insulated through partitions, walls of cubicles and compartments of switchgear.

Description

The range covers 10 kV bushings with a rated current of 1250 A in two versions, 1600 A and 3150 A, as well as a 35 kV, 1250 A insulator. The manufacturer assigns them to the SHMI epoxy system for indoor use. The type designation is simple to read: the first number gives the rated voltage in kilovolts, the second the rated current in amperes.

The 10–1600 bushing is rated for 10 kV and 1600 A, and its weight is 3.2 kg. It is produced in two versions for the largest diameter of the primary conductor, and the rated voltage and current are the same in both. Order code 600 000 400 corresponds to a conductor with a diameter of up to 40 mm, code 600 000 401 to a conductor up to 60 mm. Therefore, when ordering, the diameter of the busbar or conductor that will pass through the insulator must be known.

The bushing body is cast from epoxy resin, which has high electrical and mechanical strength. Since 2007 the company has had a separate epoxy casting shop. There, bushing insulators and other epoxy parts are made on demand and to the customer's drawings, so bushing dimensions can be agreed for a specific cubicle or partition.

Technical data sheets with dimensions are published for each version, including pr_shmi_10_1250, pr_shmi_10_1600, pr_shmi_10_2500, pr_shmi_10_3150 and pr_shmi_35_1250. The CTB 25 bushing current transformers, which combine the functions of a bushing and a current transformer, are described in a separate catalog item. They are chosen when current must also be measured at the same busbar passage.

The bushings are installed in busbar passages between compartments of 6–35 kV switchgear and KSO cubicles, at entries into cabinets and chambers. They are used by switchgear manufacturers for equipping new cubicles and by maintenance services for repair of existing equipment, when a damaged bushing insulator must be replaced with a product of the same voltage and current parameters. During replacement, the rated voltage, current and conductor diameter are checked, and if necessary a bushing with the dimensions of the old insulator is ordered.

Questions and answers

What rated currents do the bushings have?

For 10 kV, bushings of 1250 A in two versions, 1600 A and 3150 A are produced. For 35 kV, a 1250 A insulator is available.

How to choose the version of the 10–1600 bushing?

By the conductor diameter. Code 600 000 400 is for a conductor up to 40 mm, code 600 000 401 up to 60 mm, and the bushing weighs 3.2 kg.

Can a bushing be made to a customer's drawing?

Yes, bushing insulators and other epoxy parts are made to customers' drawings in the company's own epoxy casting shop, which has operated since 2007.
