Description
The manufacturer also makes porcelain oil bushings for low voltage; this page covers the MV versions. The medium-voltage porcelain bushings lead the windings of oil-filled power and distribution transformers out through the tank cover or wall. Porcelain does not absorb moisture, so the insulation properties stay stable for years. The design is non-condenser, with a current-carrying stud or rod and a set of metal parts.
The range covers insulation classes 12, 24, 36 and 52 kV at rated currents from 250 to 8000 A. To German standards the bushings are made as DIN 42531 (250 A), DIN 42532 (630 A), DIN 42533 (1000–3150 A), DIN 42534 (52 kV, 1000–3150 A) and DIN 42541 (24–36 kV, 5000–8000 A). The European versions comply with EN 50180 (12–52 kV, 250–3150 A) and EN 50243 (5000–8000 A). For the 52 kV class under DIN the available currents are 1000–3150 A, while EN 50180 also covers lower currents from 250 A.
Separately, the manufacturer offers its own designs for 36 kV / 250 A, 52 kV / 250–630 A and 1000–3150 A, 24 kV / 6300 A and 12–36 kV / 4500 A. These versions are not tied to the DIN and EN tables. The bushings are supplied with connecting flags, to which busbars and cables are attached.
The metal parts are made on machining and stamping equipment. Tolerances and raw material characteristics meet the UNEL, DIN, CENELEC and UNE standards. Every insulator undergoes electrical tests to the current IEC standards. All parts in the catalog are numbered, so spare parts are easy to order and worn elements can be replaced during repair without searching for drawings.
The bushings are fitted to oil-filled power transformers, 6–35 kV distribution transformers and railway traction transformers, both in new installations and when upgrading existing machines. The design has been proven by a large number of installed units. For low temperatures and higher safety requirements the manufacturer has an alternative in the form of dry CRS bushings made of epoxy resin with a silicone sheath.
