ET3H — dry-type MV power transformers up to 24 kV with VPI impregnation
ET3H are dry-type three-phase MV transformers for networks up to 24 kV, which the plant in Lubliniec (Poland) builds for a specific customer project. They are used to step voltage down or up in MV distribution networks and to supply high-power consumers. The HV windings are impregnated with resin or varnish by the vacuum pressure method (VPI).

Description
According to the manufacturer, the rating range is from 0.05 to 5,000 kVA, although the 2024 catalogue states up to 3,000 kVA for the standard line. Application areas include power generation, heavy industry, railways, the marine sector, mining, construction, wind and solar power plants. The transformers are built to IEC/EN 60076-11. The standard rating table here is only a guide, because each unit is calculated for a specific task.
During VPI the insulation is impregnated uniformly, without air inclusions, so the partial discharge level is very low and the windings are resistant to thermal shock, moisture condensation and contamination. This technology makes it possible to build HV coils of different geometry and to adapt the transformer to customer requirements. According to the catalogue, the transformers meet classes C4/E2/F1.
The series has three directions. Standard MV power transformers are used for shore power supply of ships, energy storage, traction substations, drilling platforms and drives. Special VPI transformers work in aggressive environments, on marine and offshore installations, wind and solar power plants, and rail transport. Low-power MV transformers with multiple impregnation meet class C4/E4 and are installed in wind turbines, high-frequency welding units, power conversion systems and local networks.
The basic protection degree is IP00, and enclosures with a higher protection degree up to IP65/IP66 allow the transformers to be installed indoors, outdoors and in environments with dust, moisture and vibration. Transformers in a PowerBox container with protection degree IP54, rated up to 1,600 kVA and for temperatures from −40 to +50 °C, are supplied separately. The container is fitted out to the needs of the specific site. In one project, an ET3S transformer supplying a heat exchanger at a chemical plant was installed in a standard IP54 container, keeping the typical dimensions for ordinary transport.

The test programme includes running on an MV test bench rated up to 5 MVA, partial discharge measurement in a Faraday cage with background below 1 pC, and impulse tests with a 1.2/50 µs wave. Product quality is confirmed by certificates, and the manufacturer regards compliance with PN-EN 60076-11 as the basis of the quality and durability of its transformers. Parameters outside the catalogue are made by agreement.
