Description
Traction transformers are installed at substations of 27.5 kV AC electrified railways, on high-speed main lines as well as heavy-haul lines. The traction load has a high harmonic content, a distorted waveform, sharp fluctuations and frequent short circuits in the contact network, and the design is calculated for this duty. The manufacturer built the industry's first 330 kV traction transformer for the autotransformer (AT) feeding system on the Zhengzhou–Xi'an line and has supplied equipment for the Xi'an–Yan'an, Baotou–Yinchuan, Zhongwei–Lanzhou and other lines.
The QYD-31500/330 works at traction substations of high-speed lines with the AT system. On the 330 kV side ((330 ±4×2.5 %) kV) it takes three-phase supply through a three-phase transformer or two single-phase ones in a Vx connection. On the lower-voltage side there are two independent 2×27.5 kV outputs with separate voltages and ratings, one for each direction of traffic. The rating is 31.5/20/20 MVA, short-circuit voltage 10.5 %, cooling ONAN, no-load loss 57.4 kW and short-circuit loss below 208 kW. The oil temperature rise is 50 K and that of the hottest winding spot 68 K. Full insulation withstands frequent short circuits; per the manufacturer, the HV insulation levels Um/SI/LI/LIC/AC are 363/950/1175/1300/510 kV and the LV levels Um/LI/LIC/AC are 31.5/200/220/85 kV.
The QYS-(31500+31500)/220, with an internal three-phase Vx connection, is intended for 220 kV substations with the AT system. It delivers the standard 2×27.5 kV, has low losses and intelligent condition monitoring. The 110 kV QYS-(31500+31500)/110 with a Vv connection works in direct feeding systems, including those with a return wire. Low traction impedance and small voltage drops allow long sections to be supplied, and the simple scheme lowers costs. Short-circuit voltage is 8.4 %, no-load loss 47.2 kW and short-circuit loss 208 kW.
The traction autotransformer QYOD-20000/2×27.5, rated 20 MVA (2×27.5/27.5 kV, impedance 0.45 Ohm), is installed at autotransformer posts of the contact network on high-speed and heavy-haul lines. It has high power utilisation, low losses and noise, resistance to overvoltages and little effect on communication lines. The unit works at high altitude, at low and high temperatures and in salt fog.
