SR / SRA — auxiliary resistors for arc-suppression reactors
SR and SRA auxiliary (secondary) resistors for arc-suppression reactors in compensated networks. They briefly increase the active component of the earth-fault current so that directional earth-fault protection operates reliably.
- Purpose
- brief increase of the active component of the earth-fault current
- Connection
- to the power auxiliary winding of the arc-suppression reactor
- SR
- fixed resistance
- SRA
- set of resistor elements switched by contactors, controlled by the ARS-01 controller

Description
The resistor is connected to the power auxiliary winding of the arc-suppression reactor. The SR model has a fixed resistance. The SRA is assembled from a set of resistor elements switched by contactors on commands from the ARS-01 controller. Cooling is natural air and the installation is outdoor.

Questions and answers
How do the SR and SRA resistors differ?
The SR has a fixed resistance. The SRA consists of a set of elements switched by contactors under the control of the ARS-01 controller.
Where is the auxiliary resistor connected?
To the power auxiliary winding of the arc-suppression reactor.
Why is an auxiliary resistor needed in a compensated network?
It briefly increases the active component of the earth-fault current, and the directional protection reliably identifies the faulted feeder.
