High-frequency line traps (PLC wave traps)
High-frequency line traps for power line carrier communication systems with a blocking band of 40–500 kHz for 50/60 Hz networks. The trap has high impedance at the carrier frequency and negligible impedance at the mains frequency.

- 40–500 kHz
- Mains frequency
- 50/60 Hz
- Installation
- in series with the line phase, including on a coupling capacitor

Description
The trap is connected in series with the line phase and can also be mounted on a coupling capacitor. Power frequency current passes through it practically without losses. The high-frequency signal in the blocking band is cut off and does not reach the substation busbars. In this way the teleprotection and communication signal stays in the line it is intended for.
