Description
The KSTAR MEMOPOWER-III line covers single-phase online UPS from 1 to 10 kVA. These are compact units for servers, network equipment and substations, where the load is sensitive to voltage sags and mains loss. The topology is transformerless, with double conversion and fully digital control. The 1–3 kVA models have an A4-format case and are built as rack/tower (RT) versions, while the 6–10 kVA models come as tower or rack/tower.
Input power factor correction is used, and the power factor itself is 0.99. The input voltage range is 110–300 V AC, and 110–286 V for the 6–10 kVA models, so the UPS switches to batteries less often when the mains fluctuates. The output power factor is selected from 0.8, 0.9 or 1.0, depending on the load. The manufacturer's datasheet also offers a choice of output voltage of 208, 220, 230 or 240 V AC, and at 208 V the power is derated to 80 % of rated. Efficiency reaches 94 % in the 6–10 kVA RT versions.
An ECO mode is provided for energy saving. There is a cold start, generator compatibility and intelligent fan speed control. The 1–3 kVA models gained a battery deep-discharge protection function, which the manufacturer links to use in medium-voltage substations. In the Long run version the maximum charging current can be increased to 12 A. Versions are built with both lead-acid and lithium batteries. The lithium RT-III Li series has a built-in battery with a life of more than 2000 cycles and BMS protection; the cells and the battery pack are certified to IEC 62133 and IEC 62619, and transport complies with UN 38.3.
The user interface is built around an LCD panel that can be rotated, and the display responds to the position of the unit. An optional 3.5-inch touch screen is available. For communication there is an RS232 port, plus USB, an EPO board, dry contacts and an SNMP card as options. The protections cover short circuit, overload, overtemperature, overcharge and deep discharge of the battery, low output voltage and fan failure. Emergency power off (EPO) is provided. The operating modes (mains, battery, ECO, bypass) and alarm states are shown on the panel. The series complies with IEC/EN 62040-1 and IEC/EN 62477-1, and versions to UL1778 and Energy Star are available for the US market. A PDU with a maintenance bypass and programmable outlets are offered as options.
