Description
KSTAR EPOWER-H is a series of three-phase transformer-based UPS rated from 10 to 600 kVA, with three-phase input and output (3:3). The manufacturer intends it for data centers, industrial loads and other backup power scenarios for critical consumers. The output power factor is 0.9.
The main difference of the series from basic transformer-based UPS is the rectifier built on IGBT transistors. Control is performed by two DSP processors, and the topology works as a true online double-conversion converter with zero transfer time. This means the load does not feel the transition when the mains is lost. The isolation transformer galvanically separates the consumers from the power source.
To improve availability, the UPS can be assembled in an N+X parallel redundancy configuration. The unit has a number of protections and a self-diagnostics function that simplifies maintenance. A wide input voltage range reduces the number of transfers to batteries when the mains is unstable. Intelligent battery management monitors their condition, and the presence of a maintenance bypass makes it possible to take the UPS out for service without switching off the load.
The interface is built around a 7-inch touch screen with a simple menu structure. The emergency power off (EPO) function is provided. The parameters for a specific size, including the dimensions, the battery capacity and the number of units in parallel, are specified on request depending on the site power within 10–600 kVA. The transformer-based topology with an IGBT rectifier is appropriate for industrial consumers, where distortion is possible at the input and galvanic isolation is needed at the output. Zero transfer time means that when the mains is lost the inverter is already carrying the load, so there is no interruption in the power supply. Dual control on two DSPs distributes the monitoring functions, and self-diagnostics helps the operating staff to notice deviations before a failure. N+X parallel redundancy makes it possible to increase power and to have a reserve in case a unit fails. The maintenance bypass is needed for servicing without stopping a critical load. The range of 10–600 kVA covers both small server rooms and large industrial sites, so the series is chosen when the site power may grow. The battery configuration is selected for the required backup time.
