Vacuum interrupters 1.5–84 kV, up to 63 kA, up to 4000 A
Vacuum interrupters are produced for rated voltages from 1.5 to 84 kV, breaking currents up to 63 kA and rated currents up to 4000 A. The company has manufactured them since 1965, uses them in its own circuit breakers and contactors and supplies them to third-party switchgear manufacturers. The interrupters comply with the JEC, IEC, ANSI, GB and DL standards.

Description
Third-party manufacturers install the interrupters in vacuum circuit breakers, load break switches, contactors, transformer OLTC devices, RMUs, reclosers, capacitor and shunt switches. The company describes itself as a leading vacuum interrupter manufacturer in Japan and one of the leaders of the world market.
The body is formed by a ceramic insulator of high-alumina ceramic and two flanges. Inside are placed the arc shield, the bellows, and the movable and fixed terminals with contacts. The parts are brazed in a high-vacuum furnace, and all materials except the guide do not release gases. The movable terminal is connected to the operating mechanism, and the bellows lets it move without breaking the vacuum. The shield protects the insulator from deposition of metal vapor, so the dielectric strength along the ceramic surface is preserved throughout the service life.
Two types of Cu-Cr contacts are used for arc control. Spiral contacts create a radial magnetic field and rotate the arc, while contacts with an axial magnetic field (AMF) spread it over the surface. Both schemes interrupt large currents in a compact size with low contact wear. Vacuum has a higher dielectric strength than air, SF6 and oil, the arc voltage is low, and recovery of strength after interruption is very fast, so the arc energy and burning time are small. Hence the long mechanical and switching life, the low chopping current and the low contact welding force.
The interrupters are sealed, require no maintenance and release no harmful substances, and the parts comply with RoHS. For the switchgear manufacturer this means that the breaker documentation contains no requirements for periodic inspection of the arc-extinguishing device or for gas handling.
The history of the line fits into several milestones. In 1965 the first 6.6 kV interrupter in a glass envelope appeared, and in 1970 a 36 kV 25 kA interrupter. In 1973 the company moved to a ceramic body and Cu-Cr spiral contacts. In 1980 exports to Europe began and a 12 kV 50 kA interrupter was released, and in 1998 a low-overvoltage 7.2 kV 40 kA interrupter was developed. In 1989 production was moved to the Marugame plant, and the ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certificates were obtained in 1995 and 1998. By 2011 more than 3.5 million interrupters had been produced.
