Description
The device connects and disconnects catenary sections, supplies power directly from a traction substation, and in a two-pole version also serves for parallel operation of contact wire sections. The choice between ARC and LBS depends on whether load current has to be switched or only a de-energised circuit has to be opened. The ARC variant performs the functions of a disconnector, while the LBS variant is a load break switch and makes and breaks 3150 A.
The nominal network voltage is 3 kV DC, the device rated voltage 3.6 kV DC, the rated insulation voltage 4.8 kV DC, overvoltage category OV4. The impulse test voltage is 40 kV (phase to earth) and 48 kV (across the gap), and the power frequency voltage 18.5 and 22.2 kV. Rated continuous current 3150 A, short-time withstand current 40 kA for ¼ s, short-circuit current Iss 40 kA, rated short-circuit current INss 57 kA. Utilisation category I for the disconnector and III for the load break switch. Switching endurance is at least 50 cycles at rated voltage and current.
The minimum clearance phase to earth is 251 mm, across the isolating gap 270 mm, creepage distance about 394 mm, pollution degree PD4A. Dimensions of the ARC are 764×300×530 mm and of the LBS 1193×300×530 mm, mass about 27 and 28 kg. Stroke 180/200 mm, operating force about 450/500 N, recommended drive torque about 250 N·m, drives UM90 and UMPlus are suitable. The drive is central, optionally lateral, and the connection is made by rod or Flexball. The LBS has a quick-break mechanism. An auxiliary switch with up to 8 contacts is housed in an IP65 aluminium enclosure.
The current-carrying parts are made of electrical copper, with silver-plated contacts. Mounting is horizontal, on pole heads. The device is designed for ice loads up to 10 mm (class 10 to EN 62271-102), corrosivity category C3 high (EN ISO 14713), temperature −25…+40 °C and wind up to 34 m/s. It complies with EN 50123-1 / IEC 61992-1, EN 50123-4 / IEC 61992-4 and EN 50329 (load cycles A and B, class VI).
