LineBOSS 48–72.5 kV is a unified three-pole sidebreak disconnect switch for lines and substations of the 46 and 69 kV classes. The rated currents are 600, 900 and 1200 A, and the mechanical life is 5000 cycles. The poles are supplied assembled and adjusted at the factory.

Description
The proven design solutions of the GOAB distribution disconnect switches have been carried over to the transmission class. According to the manufacturer, this is a high-quality and economical disconnect switch with the lowest cost of ownership in its class. The device is shipped as a unified block or in modules, so installation on a pole takes hours rather than days. Special phase bases are offered for different poles.
Asymmetric conductor loading and seasonal temperature changes cause conductors to sag and shift. In other types of disconnect switches this leads to contact misalignment, but the LineBOSS sidebreak eliminates this problem, which reduces operating costs.
The 46 kV class (highest 48 kV) has a current of 600 A, making current 15 kA asymmetrical five times, short-time current 40 kA rms / 65 kA peak for 10 cycles and 25 kA for 3 s. The 69 kV class (highest 72.5 kV) has 900 A, making current 20 kA three times, 51 kA / 72 kA peak and 32 kA for 3 s, or 1200 A, making current 30 kA twice, 70 kA / 99 kA peak and 44 kA for 3 s. Ice breaking ¾″, mechanical life 5000 cycles. Per ANSI C37.30, the momentary currents for 10 cycles at 600, 900 and 1200 A are 40, 51 and 70 kA. The 600 A phases have 900 A capability in the IEEE 1247 temperature test.
Configurations: horizontal straight and center-mounted, vertical 'phase over phase', pass-through tap, single, double, three- and four-way taps, triangular, top of pole, double circuit, 'delta', stacked outrigger and cable riser. Operators: hot-stick, lever-type push-pull, torsion and motor MSO; single-phase versions LBS4 (48 kV) and LBS6 (72.5 kV) are available. The switch is compatible with the AmpRupter, AmpVac, V4/V7 and ArcWhip arc quenching attachments and the high-speed whip. Black components are hot-dip galvanized, and the ArmorGalv® AG3000 coating (thermal diffusion galvanizing) improves corrosion resistance. Terminals are two-hole copper NEMA pads for 600 and 900 A and four-hole pads for 1200 A.
