Description
LineBOSS GOAB is a three-pole group-operated disconnect switch for 15.5–38 kV distribution lines. According to the manufacturer, it is the strongest design of its class on the market. The LBS version for distribution networks has been accepted by RUS. The phase base is made of ¼″ steel, with stainless steel and brass bearings, silver-plated copper reverse loop contacts and blade bus knives, which give smooth operation over a long service life even in environments with dust, moisture and corrosive industrial and natural pollution.
For 15.5 kV: current 600 A, making current 15 kA (asymmetrical) five operations under manual control, short-time current 40 kA rms / 65 kA peak for 10 cycles and 25 kA for 3 s. For 25.8 kV: current 900 A, making current 20 kA three times, 51 kA / 72 kA peak and 32 kA for 3 s. For 38 kV: current 1200 A, making current 30 kA twice, 70 kA / 99 kA peak (above the required ANSI 60 kA) and 44 kA for 3 s. Ice breaking up to ¾″ under manual operation, mechanical life 5000 make-break cycles.
The insulators are made of elastic silicone rubber with enhanced BIL, and the bearings are sealed, maintenance-free ball bearings. The black components are hot-dip galvanized, and an ArmorGalv® coating is available for higher corrosion resistance. The crossarm can be aluminum, steel or fiberglass. The devices meet or exceed the requirements of NEMA, IEEE, ANSI and IEC currently in force.
Configurations: horizontal straight and under-crossarm, on a pole with a cable riser, vertical 'phase over phase', tap, triangular, at the top of a pole, vertical stacked outrigger, double tap and others. Operation is by a hot-stick mechanism, a lever-type push-pull or torsion operator, or a motor operator MSO, and a single-phase version is available. The arc quenching attachments AmpRupter, AmpVac, V4 and V7, ArcWhip and ArcHorn horns, a high-speed whip and a sectionalizer (separate item) are compatible for switching load current, breaking loops, and interrupting line and cable charging currents.
