V series indoor vacuum circuit breakers 12–38.5 kV, 630–2500 A
The V series are three-phase indoor vacuum circuit breakers for 12, 24, 36 and 38.5 kV with a current of 630–2500 A (brochure 747, a development of the 746 series). They are intended for medium-voltage switchgear, including front mounting on withdrawable trucks. All types are also produced in a single-pole version.

Description
The designation, for example V12-630-25 F-BK or V24-1250-25 KUF, reflects the voltage, current, breaking current and drive type. F-BK drives are spring-operated with manual operation for front mounting, BK-EA are spring-operated with manual closing and opening, and KUF are motorized spring drives suitable for auto-reclosing. The energy is stored by three coil springs with damping of the end positions and is sufficient for three operations, the last always being opening. Charging is done manually or by a motor (110/230 V AC, 24–220 V DC, about 211–286 W, 5.7–9.3 s). An overload interlock, an auxiliary switch, an operations counter, position and charge indicators and, optionally, a second release are provided. Releases are shunt, undervoltage and current-operated (ASA, RSA, WSA).
At 12/24 kV the circuit breakers are rated for 630–2000 A (2500 A at 24 kV), a breaking current of 25–31.5 kA, a thermal withstand of 25–31.5 kA / 3 s and a making capacity of 63–80 kA (the summary table gives 50–80 kA). At 36/38.5 kV the current is 630–1250 A (2500 A at 36 kV) and 20 kA (31.5 kA at 2500 A). Insulation levels are 75/28 kV (12 kV), 125/50 kV (24 kV), 170/70 kV (36 kV), 180/80 kV (38.5 kV).
Closing time is 46–53 ms, opening time 47–57 ms, arcing time less than 12–17 ms. The vacuum interrupter life at rated current is 30 000 operations (12/24 kV) and 10 000 (36/38.5 kV), at rated short-circuit current 100, and the mechanism withstands 10 000 operations. Classes M2 and S1. Contact wear is visible from the mark M without disassembly.
The vacuum interrupters are housed in thermoset cast parts, and the pole can be removed as a whole. Versions are enclosed (630–2000 A) and open (2500 A), weight 100–137 kg. Maintenance is minimal: inspection, cleaning of the insulation, lubrication of the mechanism. The circuit breakers are installed in W24, WEL/E3K and PRO-AIR H switchgear panels, for replacement and modernization of circuit breakers of previous series and for feeders with auto-reclosing.
