Description
Medium voltage fuses are the first product the manufacturer began producing, in 1977. IB current-limiting links protect medium voltage equipment against the dynamic and thermal effects of a short circuit. They are used to protect distribution transformers, voltage transformers, MV motors, capacitors, distribution and power lines in gas- and air-insulated indoor switchgear, in outdoor and oil-filled distribution equipment.
Series IB-D1, IB-D2 and IB-D3 (DIN) are links to DIN 43625 with diameters of 53, 73 and 86 mm. They cover the range from 3–3.6 kV (2.5–100 A, length e = 192 mm) through 6–7.2 and 10–12 kV (e = 292 mm), 15–17.5 kV (e = 292/365 mm), 13–24 kV (e = 442 mm) up to 25–36 kV (e = 537 mm, 2.5–80 A). Weight is 1.1–5.6 kg. IB-DG (Ø 60 mm) and IB-DK (Ø 81 mm) are made for 3–3.6, 7.2, 12, 17.5, 24–28, 36 and 52 kV with currents from 2.5 to 150 A, and for 52 kV this is 2.5–32 A with a length up to 790 mm. IB-F, IB-L and IB-P are links for 7.2–36 kV with currents of 4–250 A, including IB-P3 for 160–250 A at 7.2 kV and IB-L5 for 63–125 A at 24 kV. Links of increased size relative to the rated voltage are supplied to order.
The technical tables give, for each rating, the rated breaking capacity I1, the minimum melting current I3, power losses at 50 and 100 % load, resistance at 20 °C, and the pre-arcing and arcing time integrals. The links belong to the Back-Up class and interrupt all currents from I3 to I1. Their properties include low losses and heating, a low minimum melting current, strong current limitation, high breaking capacity, low arc voltage, high tightness for demanding conditions, traceability and unit-by-unit production control.
The links comply with IEC 60282-1 (UNE-EN 60282-1), IEC 60787 (selection for transformers), IEC 60644 (motors), IEC 60549 (capacitors), IEC 62271-105 (combinations with a load break switch) and DIN 43625. The manufacturer assists with selection of the links and develops versions for special applications.
