H27 — load-break switch and fuse combination 12/24 kV
H27 is a three-phase indoor load-break switch for 12 and 24 kV and its version as a combination with HV fuses. The rated current of the switch is 630 A, and of the combinations 630/125 A. The switch operates distribution transformers in secondary substations and protects them.

Description
The switch protects transformers against internal and external faults. The fuses extend the breaking capacity of the combination up to their rated short-circuit breaking current. The versions by mounting method are as follows. Front-mounted F-EK (without free tripping), F-EA (with free tripping) and F-SuT (a combination with fuses on two separate crossbeams). Wall-mounted EK, EA and SEA (a combination, crossbeam at the bottom). Side-mounted EK, EA, SuT and SEA.
The rated current of the switch is 630 A, and of the combinations 630/125 A, where 125 A is the rated current of the fuse holder. The short-time withstand current is 16 or 20 kA depending on the version. The rated breaking current and the closed-loop breaking current are 630 A. The ES-24-20 earthing switch has 20 kA, a making capacity of 50 kA, 3 s. Insulation levels are 75/85 kV impulse and about 28/32 kV power frequency for 12 kV, and 125/145 kV and 50/60 kV for 24 kV (without phase barriers at a pitch of 170 mm, 95 kV). Classes E1 and M1, compliance with EN 62271-103 and EN 62271-105.
The arc is extinguished in a four-section chamber with pressure and expansion chambers and two spring-loaded extinguishing plates, without maintenance. The EK drive has one torsion spring and the EA drive two springs, and the opening is released by the fuse striker, by a release or manually. Operation is possible with a removable lever, through a coupling or by a motor drive. Releases and shunt trips are rated for 110/230 V AC and 24–220 V DC. Position signaling contacts and mechanical interlocking with earthing switches at the top and bottom are provided.
HV fuse links with a striker of at least 80 N are used, with dimensions to DIN 43625, diameter up to 88 mm, length e = 292 mm for 12 kV and 442 mm for 24 kV. The switch tripping delay is 250 ms for 12 kV and 500 ms for 24 kV. Weight is 34–88 kg depending on the version. H27 is installed in compact switchgear for substations, in E3K, D24 and other switchgear.
