FLa 15/97 — outdoor vacuum load-break switches 12–38.5 kV (including IFLa and 6300 A)

FLa 15/97 are outdoor load-break switches for overhead distribution networks in which the arc is extinguished in a vacuum interrupter instead of the former oil method. Rated voltages are 12, 24, 36 and 38.5 kV, currents 400/630 A. The device contains neither gas nor oil and is suitable for water protection zones.

Description

The vacuum interrupters are connected in parallel (shunt) with the main contacts. The current passes from the main contacts to the shunt circuit and is interrupted in the interrupter at the first current zero without an external arc. The interrupter is hermetically sealed, and contacts do not oxidize in vacuum. No liquid or gas is needed for external insulation (patented insulation system), and the interrupter sits in a weather-resistant insulating housing.

The horizontal version of FLa 15/97 is intended for wooden and concrete poles (angle 60°) and for a wide span on concrete or steel crossarms. Available are the -64W version (110°, phase spacing 500 or 700 mm), the vertical -6400 (90°, also single-pole), -6410 with HV fuse holders and -6410 SA with an energy storage mechanism for all-pole tripping when a fuse operates (striker 120 N). The series is supplemented by the intelligent load-break disconnector IFLa (FLa 15/97-6400), which raises network availability and shortens power interruptions, and by the high-current FLa 15/97 38.5-6300-90 to EN 62271-103 up to 38.5 kV and 6300 A with an active load breaking current of 250 A, in a self-supporting design.

The parameters of FLa 15/97 are as follows: breaking of active load and closed loops 630 A, cables 25–28 A, earth fault 200 A. Peak withstand current 40 kA, thermal withstand 16 kA / 1 s, making capacity 25 kA (12/24 kV) and 16 kA (36/38.5 kV). Insulation levels range from 28/32 and 75/85 kV (12 kV) to 80/90 and 180/210 kV (38.5 kV). Versions 6400/6410 are rated for 630 A (1600 A at 36 kV), 63 kA / 25 kA 3 s (80 / 31.5 kA at 36 kV), with fuse holders up to 125 A. Classes M2 (5000 cycles) and E1.

Insulators are made of cycloaliphatic resin, contacts of electrolytic copper with silver plating, frames are hot-dip galvanized, bearings are bronze, and fasteners are stainless steel. Drives are manual (single, double, triple) and motor UM20 (with radio control) and UM90, weight 100–210 kg. FLa 15/60 units are converted to vacuum interrupters through adapters. The devices are used for sectionalizing overhead lines, in transformer substations, on cable taps and in traction networks.
