Description
The three-phase SF6 reclosers EVR-1, EVR-2 and EVR-3 are installed on overhead lines and substations of the 15.5, 27 and 38 kV classes. The company's product range started with this line. In 1999 the company built a 27 kV SF6 recloser that passed testing at KEMA and received a Korean new-technology certificate. In 2000–2001 models for 15 and 38 kV appeared, including 38 kV / 16 kA, tested at KEMA and CESI.
The arc is extinguished by vacuum interrupters, and the internal insulation is SF6 in a stainless steel tank. The bushings are epoxy with a silicone housing. The tank and the control cabinet withstand heat, humidity, dust and corrosion. The drive uses a permanent magnet actuator without mechanical latches and is rated for 10,000 operations without maintenance, while the small number of moving parts lowers installation and operating costs.
Rated current is 630/800 A, frequency 50/60 Hz. Breaking current and 3 s short-time withstand current are 12.5 kA, and for 38 kV 12.5 or 16 kA. Making capacity is 32.5 kA, and 32.5/40 kA for the 38 kV unit. The recloser interrupts a cable charging current of 5 A and a transformer magnetizing current of 22 A (22/28 A for 38 kV). The insulation withstands up to 170 kV impulse voltage, 70 kV power frequency dry and 45 kV wet.
The delivery includes resistive (1 %) and capacitive (2.5 %) voltage dividers, CTs for the whole protection range and manual tripping. The 18 A·h battery is rated for hundreds of operations over 30 hours after the external 110/220 V AC supply is lost. The device itself operates at −40…+80 °C, the controller at −25…+70 °C, degree of protection IP55.
The controller ETR300-R or EVRC2A-NT measures, monitors, records events and transmits data over DNP 3.0, MODBUS and IEC 60870-5-101/104. It supports the IEEE C37.112, IEC 255-3 and McGraw Edison curves. The recloser is mounted on a pole or at a substation with a full set of cables and brackets. Testing was carried out at KEMA, CESI or KERI to ANSI C37.60 and IEC 62271-111. The device sectionalizes overhead feeder lines, automatically restores supply after temporary faults and fits into distribution network automation schemes.

Questions and answers
What breaking current do EVR reclosers have?
For 15.5 and 27 kV the breaking current is 12.5 kA, for 38 kV 12.5 or 16 kA. Making capacity is 32.5 kA, up to 40 kA in the 38 kV version.
How does EVR differ from a solid insulated recloser?
In EVR the internal insulation is SF6 in a stainless steel tank, and the bushings are epoxy with a silicone housing. The arc is still extinguished by vacuum interrupters, degree of protection IP55.
Which protection curves does the EVR controller support?
The ETR300-R or EVRC2A-NT controller supports the IEEE C37.112, IEC 255-3 and McGraw Edison curves. Communication runs over DNP 3.0, MODBUS and IEC 60870-5-101/104.
