ERGO Switch and Recloser Bypass Switch — 15–35 kV line switches, 900/1200 A, and recloser bypass switches
The ERGO Switch in-line disconnect is installed in the conductor of 15, 28 or 35 kV overhead lines, rated 900 or 1200 A, and creates a visible break. The Recloser Bypass Switch bypasses and isolates reclosers for classes 15.5, 27 and 38 kV, 900 A. Both devices are installed on distribution overhead lines.

Description
The ERGO Switch is, according to the manufacturer, the first 'lineman-friendly' in-line disconnect. It is installed directly in the conductor of a distribution overhead line to create a visible break. The disconnect is designed to be installed with a standard cordless tool, and the angled connection system gives an ergonomic and safe position of the bucket truck boom during installation. Oppositely directed clamp bodies allow the device to be hung on the conductor and locked with a simple turn, and the locking clamp is tightened to 40–45 ft-lb. All components are pre-attached, so no powder-actuated tools, cartridges or maintenance programmes are needed. The design reduces the risk of contact with other potentials, and one lineman can install it where safety rules allow.
ERGO is produced for 15 kV (BIL 110 kV), 28 kV (BIL 150 kV) and 35 kV (BIL 200 kV), rated current 900 or 1200 A. The device suits ACSR conductors from #4 to 336.4 kcmil (0.25–0.684″) and from 336.4 to 795 kcmil (0.684–1.108″). Mechanical strength of the housing is 15 000 lb and of the pull eye 6000 lb. The housing and latch are made of A356-T6 aluminium alloy, the mounting hardware of hot-dip galvanised or stainless steel, the blade and contacts of silver-plated copper, and the contact hinges of tinned copper. A tinned version (index -V) is available on order.
The Recloser Bypass Switch is designed to bypass and isolate reclosers and other equipment on overhead lines. Each phase has three ERGO Switch blades with silver-plated copper blades and reverse loop technology, which eases operation and extends service life. Switching is performed with standard load-break tools. The device is produced in a three-phase version as a single unit on a crossarm, or in a single-phase version for single-phase reclosers.
The Recloser Bypass is built for classes 15.5 kV (BIL 110 kV), 27 kV (BIL 150 kV) and 38 kV (BIL 200 kV), rated current 900 A, short-time current 40 kA for 10 cycles and 25 kA for 3 s. According to the drawings, for the ERGO at 1200 A these values are 70 kA and 44 kA. The device has been fully tested and certified to IEEE C37.30.1-2022, and test reports are provided on request.
