Description
The pre-insertion resistor limits overvoltages and inrush currents when the bank is energised, so synchronous switching systems are not needed. The arc is extinguished in a self-blast SF6 chamber. The unit has a spring operating mechanism. The switch is installed in capacitor bank feeders of reactive power compensation systems at HV substations.
