Description
The 3AH3 is designed for networks and industrial installations with the highest load and short-circuit currents. In the vacuum interrupter the arc is quenched as the contacts separate in vacuum, without SF6 or oil. This is the highest-power circuit breaker in the line that the manufacturer has produced for more than 50 years and that is based on its own vacuum interrupters.
The design allows vertical and horizontal mounting in the panel, and the thermal characteristics are chosen for operation with the highest load currents. The breaker is maintenance free, which means predictable life cycle costs and continuous operation. The 3AH3 spring mechanism is a common platform for the GMSG circuit breakers in ANSI switchgear and for the 3AH36/37/38 generator circuit breakers. The breaker can be configured online with three-dimensional visualization.
When selecting, the rated current of the feeder, the short-circuit current at the installation point and the panel dimensions are compared. The vacuum interrupter has a short contact travel and releases no arc products into the maintenance area, so such circuit breakers are convenient for compactly arranged switchgear. The 3AH3 breaker is made for medium-voltage switchgear where a high breaking capacity is required.
It is used in switchgear of power plants and auxiliary power systems, in substations of large industrial plants with high short-circuit currents, in metallurgy, chemicals and petrochemicals, and in 6–35 kV switchgear where feeder currents above 4000 A are required.
