Description
A turbine is classed as industrial not by its power but by the nature of the process. Even a medium-power turbine with process steam extractions is considered industrial. Such turbines supply power plants of industrial enterprises, CHP plants and mechanical drives. Typical industries are metallurgy, chemicals, pulp and paper, sugar mills and local heat supply systems based on cogeneration plants.
According to the catalogue the line includes three items. DST-G10 are high-speed turbines with a rotational speed above 6500 rpm and steam parameters up to 140 bar / 540 °C. DST-G20 are turbines for 4000–6500 rpm with parameters up to 140 bar / 565 °C. DST-V are mechanical-drive steam turbines with variable rotational speed (at the customer's request) for pumps, compressors and blowers. The DST-G series turbines are connected to the generator through a gearbox. For industrial generating sets that need synchronous speed, DST-S10 is used (3000/3600 rpm, 165 bar / 580 °C). The choice of series depends on the required speed and the type of load. The DST-G series drive a generator, while DST-V drives a machine that needs adjustable speed.
The indicative power range of industrial turbines according to the catalogue diagram is up to 70 MW. Structurally these are single-casing high-speed turbines of compact layout, condensing or back-pressure. Condensing versions work for power generation, while back-pressure versions pass exhaust steam to a consumer for process or district heating. The number and pressure of extractions are set for the customer's process. Where both electrical and thermal energy are needed at once, a back-pressure version or a version with controlled extractions is chosen. The design allows one or several controlled steam extractions for process or heating, and a radial or axial exhaust to the condenser. The turbines are delivered to site assembled, which simplifies and shortens installation.
Design and manufacturing are concentrated at the plants in Plzeň (Czech Republic) and Changwon (Korea). Steam turbine production began in 1978 with a 200 MW turbine for the Seocheon thermal power plant, and today turbines are designed for power plants of all types, including combined-cycle, cogeneration, thermal and nuclear.
