Description
DGT-100 is a medium-power gas turbine of the 90 MW class for flexible coverage of variable load in power systems with a high share of renewable sources. According to the manufacturer's official website, it delivers 90 MW in simple cycle at an efficiency above 39 %, reaches full operation in 10 minutes and picks up load at a rate of 20 MW/min.
These figures orient the DGT-100 toward peaking and semi-peaking gas turbine plants and reserve capacity. Fast start and load pickup make it possible to cover dips in wind and solar generation, when the power system needs load within minutes. The second direction covers combined-cycle plants and medium-power CHP plants with heat recovery boilers, where the turbine works as part of a combined cycle. This power class suits sites that need a flexible unit without building a large station. In a combined-cycle scheme the exhaust gases go to the heat recovery boiler, and the steam produced drives a steam turbogenerator. For peaking duty both the 90 MW rated output and repeated starts matter, so the data sheet separately states the time to full operation and the load ramp rate.
The model continues the manufacturer's gas turbine line between the small DGT-5 turbine (5 MW) and the heavy H-class DGT6-300H turbines (270–380 MW). The manufacturer runs a development programme for gas turbines able to operate on a blend of natural gas and hydrogen and on pure hydrogen.
The gas turbines are built and tested in Changwon (Korea). The site has a turbine and generator shop, a hot parts shop and a full-speed full-load test bed. The hot parts shop has more than 44 types of special equipment, including EDM and laser drilling of cooling holes, thermal barrier coating by APS/HVOF/VPS and vacuum heat treatment.
Detailed technical data for the DGT-100, including mass flow, exhaust temperature and 50 and 60 Hz versions, are not given in the available materials and are clarified per project. By output this model occupies the middle niche between the DGT-5 and the heavy DGT6-300H machines, so it is chosen when 5 MW is too little and 270 MW is too much.
