AE94.2 / AE94.2K E-class gas turbine 190 MW for various fuels
The AE94.2 E-class gas turbine of 190 MW with a simple cycle efficiency of 36.8 % and the greatest fuel flexibility in the line. Fast start and high load pick-up rates make it suitable for peaking plants, grid support and black start of a de-energized power system. It is also installed in combined cycle plants and cogeneration units of industrial enterprises, and the AE94.2K version runs on low-calorific gases.

Description
The machine has a robust design and high cycling capability. The compressor is axial, 16-stage, with variable guide vanes. Combustion takes place in two external silo-type combustors lined with tiles that are replaced individually, each with eight dual-fuel low-emission burners. The rotor is single-shaft, disc type, with internal air cooling, Hirth splines and a central tie rod. The four-stage air-cooled turbine has an axial exhaust, the rotor is equipped with the RDS displacement system, and the generator is driven from the cold end. Blades are replaced without removing the rotor, and the combustors are immediately accessible for inspection and repair.
At ISO conditions on methane the turbine delivers 190 MW at an efficiency of 36.8 %, exhaust gas flow is 555 kg/s, exhaust temperature is 550 °C and minimum GT load is 40 %. The 1+1 combined cycle gives 287 MW net at an efficiency of 55.8 %, and the 2+1 combined cycle 578 MW at an efficiency of 56.2 %, with turndown depths of 45 % and 25 %. NOx is up to 15 ppm on gas and 75 ppm on liquid fuel, or 25 ppm with a small amount of water injection.
In normal operation the turbine accepts gas mixtures with up to 40 % hydrogen. It also burns naphtha, crude oil and heavy fuel oil, gases with a high hydrogen content, coke oven and blast furnace gas, and liquid green fuels HVO, methanol and ethanol. The special AE94.2K version runs on low and very low calorific fuels such as syngas, associated and flare gas, and mixtures of coke oven, blast furnace and natural gas. According to the manufacturer, the heating value of the fuel can range from 2800 to 50,000 kJ/kg.
The hot gas path inspection interval is 41,000 equivalent hours. For existing machines the MXL2 package is available, which suits all versions of AE/V94.2 and SGT5-2000E and is installed during a planned major overhaul without dismantling the turbine rotor. The rotor discs and the secondary air system need no changes. In mode M the package gives up to +13 MW of net output, and in mode XL it extends overhaul intervals to 50 thousand equivalent hours. The upgrade is possible for simple and combined cycle, and the exhaust parameters are left unchanged if needed. More than 120 units are installed, with a total operating time of over 10 million equivalent hours.
