TBEA ODFPS are single-phase oil-immersed 1000 kV class autotransformers rated 1000 and 1500 MVA for extra-high-voltage substations. They connect the 1000 and 500 kV grids on AC trunk lines. The ODFPS-JT version is delivered in parts and assembled on site.

Description
1000 kV class autotransformers work on the extra-high-voltage AC lines that make up China's trunk grids. The company supplied the first 1000 kV transformer in the industry for the Jindongnan–Nanyang–Jingmen pilot line, and its units also operate on the Huainan–Zhebei–Shanghai and Sichuan–Chongqing lines. Through them, large amounts of power are transmitted over long distances with low losses.
The basic ODFPS-1000000/1000 version is rated 1000 MVA. It is a single-phase three-winding unit with off-circuit tap changing, which according to the manufacturer is the largest in the world in voltage and power among transformers of this type. The rated voltages are (1050/√3)/(525/√3 ±4×1.25 %)/110 kV, the frequency is 50 Hz, and the vector group is Ia0i0. The short-circuit voltages are 18 % for the HV-MV pair, 62 % for HV-LV and 40 % for MV-LV. The HV insulation levels are SI1800, LI2250 and AC1100 kV.
The unit consists of a main transformer with OFAF cooling and a regulating and compensating transformer with ONAN cooling. A new compensation scheme limits voltage fluctuations during regulation. No-load losses do not exceed 200 kW and short-circuit losses 1490 kW. The top oil temperature rise is not more than 55 K, that of the hottest spot of the winding 78 K, and the noise level is up to 75 dB(A). Stray fields of large currents are suppressed, so there are no local overheating spots and short-circuit withstand is high.
The ODFPS-JT-1500000/1000 version rated 1500 MVA is transported disassembled and assembled on site, so dimensions and weight during transport are no longer a limitation. The core has a frame design, the active part and leads are convenient to install, and drying is done by a mobile unit on site. Cooling is ODAF, no-load losses are 280 kW and short-circuit losses 2270 kW, the sound pressure level is not more than 78 dB(A), and the regulation range is ±41.25 % in the medium-voltage circuit. Both versions have an explosion-proof design with high mechanical strength. They are installed at 1000 kV substations of trunk grids and interregional links.
