Description
Cast resin dry-type transformers have historically been the core product of the manufacturer. Its plant was among the first to start producing them, in 1983, and more than 20 000 units are installed around the world. The high-voltage windings are cast in epoxy compound, so the unit is fully protected against moisture, dust and industrial contamination. Fire hazard is low because the insulation is self-extinguishing. No maintenance is needed, and siting such a transformer is simpler than an oil-filled one. The main field of application covers distribution networks and substations of buildings.
The range reaches 30 MVA with insulation class up to 52 kV and BIL 250 kV. The transformers are certified to IEC 60076-11 and tested in CESI laboratories for compliance with classes E3 (operation in heavily polluted environments at humidity above 95 %), C2 (operation, transport and storage at temperatures down to −25 °C) and F1 (self-extinguishing in a fire). The proven casting technology gives a low partial discharge level and a long service life. The core and frames receive a special treatment for harsh environments, and a separate design is provided for seismic zones and installations with strong vibration.
The typical TES-R2 series (Tier 2 under EU Regulation 548/2014) at 17.5 kV covers 100–2500 kVA. No-load losses range from 250 to 2790 W, short-circuit losses at 120 °C from 1800 to 19 000 W, short-circuit voltage is 6 %, and no-load current is 0.6–0.2 %. The sound pressure level at 1 m lies within 43–58 dBA, and efficiency at full load and cos φ = 1 is from 97.99 to 99.14 %. The thermal class is F, the winding temperature rise is 100 °C, and the maximum ambient temperature is 40 °C. Examples of executions are TES-R 400 and 1600 kVA 10/0.4 kV, TES-R 1000 kVA 11/0.415 kV, and TES-R2 800–1000 kVA 15–20/0.4 kV with Dyn11 connection and ±2×2.5 % regulation.
The standard package includes PT100 sensors with a terminal box, including one in the LV winding, LV and HV terminals and HV tap links. Routine tests under IEC 60076-11 cover winding resistance, transformation ratio, vector group, dielectric strength, partial discharges, no-load losses and current, and short-circuit voltage and losses. Type tests are carried out for lightning impulse, temperature rise and noise level, and special tests for short-circuit withstand. The transformers are installed in public buildings, hospitals, data centers, transport, industry and PV plants.
