Description
The basic RIS2 gives only discrete alarm and trip signals. According to the manufacturer, the eRIS2 became the first device of this class with analog outputs for continuous remote monitoring of temperature and pressure. The functions of four devices, namely the pressure relay, thermostats, oil level indicator and gas relay, remain in one compact enclosure on the transformer cover.
The current values of oil temperature and tank pressure are transmitted continuously. This shows pressure fluctuations in the corrugated walls and radiators of a sealed transformer, and a developing fault can be noticed before the protection operates. The 4–20 mA temperature output is proportional to the range 0–160 °C. The 4–20 mA pressure output corresponds to 0–500 mbar, or −1000…+1000 mbar to order. The analog line length is up to 30 m. In a sealed tank the pressure changes together with the oil temperature, and the overpressure relay is usually set within 0.3–0.5 bar. Vacuum inside the tank is also dangerous, because it reduces the breakdown voltage of the oil, so the pressure trend is useful in both directions.
The level indicator has a 270° viewing angle, and the pressure setpoints are adjustable. The accuracy is ±4 °C for the thermostats, ±10 of scale for the overpressure relay and ±3 °C for the thermometers. The maximum operating pressure is 500 mbar. The enclosure has a degree of protection IP66, IP67 to order, impact resistance IK07, and resistance to salt fog of 1000 h and to UV of 500 h. The ambient temperature is from −40 to +60 °C, and the oil temperature up to 120 °C.
The cable gland is M25×1.5, and the terminals accept conductors up to 2.5 mm². The level and gas contacts are rated 24–230 V DC and 2 A, and the pressure relay 24–230 V AC and 2 A. The unit complies with IEC 60076-22-1, belongs to the eDevices family and can work in the MeDICA monitoring ecosystem. The eRIS2 is fitted to sealed distribution and small power transformers, smart transformers, solar plants, offshore and tropical sites, installations with harsh conditions, new substations and upgrades.
