DTI is an electronic temperature monitoring unit for cast-resin dry-type transformers with 4 PT100 inputs and a range of −30…+220 °C. It controls the fans and gives Alarm and Trip signals through four 250 V / 5 A relays.

Description
Cast-resin dry-type transformers are installed where fire is unacceptable, for example in hospitals, data centres and shopping centres. The DTI continuously measures their winding temperature from PT100 sensors, switches on forced-cooling fans and generates warning and trip signals in case of overheating. The same unit is suitable for electric motors with PT100 sensors. Fast diagnosis of temperature changes helps personnel to make a sound decision in time.
The device has 3 or 4 inputs for PT100 resistance thermometers, with a line resistance of up to 20 Ω. Up to four temperatures are monitored at once, as a rule three winding phases and the core or the ambient. The measurement and display range is from −30 to +220 °C, accuracy ±2 °C. Values are shown on two 3-digit seven-segment LED displays.
Two alarm levels, Alarm and Trip, are programmed, with an operation delay of 5 s and hysteresis of −2 °C. There are fan control (FAN), storage of maximum values (T.MAX), the HOLD, HOT and FDC functions and sensor fault self-diagnosis. Four relays with NO-C-NC changeover contacts at 250 V / 5 A (resistive load) handle the alarm, trip, fan and fault. The logic is simple. First the Alarm warning relay operates, and if the temperature keeps rising, the Trip relay trips the transformer. The fans switch on at a separate FAN setpoint.
The housing is panel-mounted, DIN 96×96 mm format, 120 mm deep, of UL94 V0 self-extinguishing thermoplastic. The terminals are removable screw terminals for wires up to 2.5 mm². The degree of protection is IP52 at the front and IP20 at the rear to CEI-EN 60529. The supply is 24/230 V AC/DC ±15 %, 50–60 Hz, consumption up to 4 VA. Between the supply, the PT100 inputs and the relay outputs the insulation withstands 2500 V rms for 60 s. The unit operates at −10…+60 °C and humidity up to 95 %.
Safety complies with EN 61010-1, electromagnetic compatibility with EN 61000-4-2, -4-3, -4-4, -4-5, -4-11 and EN 61000-6-4. The typical field of application covers dry-type distribution transformers of 6–35 kV. If remote monitoring is needed, the company offers the eDTI version with a communication interface.
