Description

The equipment solves three groups of tasks, namely voltage and reactive power regulation, compensation of voltage sags and suppression of higher harmonics in utility and industrial networks. For this purpose static thyristor compensators (SVC), dynamic voltage restorers (DVR) and active harmonic filters (APF) are used.

SVC (Static Var Compensator). According to the manufacturer's overview brochure, the compensators are made for voltages of 380–440 V, 6.6 kV and 22.9 kV with ratings from 500 kVA to 100 MVA. They provide fast dynamic compensation of reactive power, stabilise voltage and reduce flicker under sharply varying loads such as arc furnaces, rolling mills and large drives. In addition, SVCs improve the stability of power systems.

DVR (Dynamic Voltage Restorer). Voltage restorers rated 100, 200, 300 and 500 kVA, as well as 1000 and 2000 kVA, are made for voltages of 200, 380 and 440 V, 6.6 kV and 22.9 kV. The DVR compensates short-term sags and overvoltages of the network and protects sensitive production from stoppages, including semiconductor and chemical plants and data centres.

APF (Active Power Filter). Active harmonic filters are made for three-phase three-wire (3P3W) and four-wire (3P4W) networks rated 100–400 kVA. They suppress higher harmonics from frequency converters, rectifiers and UPS units and compensate reactive power.

Beyond power equipment, the manufacturer offers diagnostic systems, namely online monitoring for preventive maintenance, partial discharge diagnostics by the UHF method and contact life prediction for SF6 circuit breakers. Typical sites are utility substations of 6–35 kV, metallurgy and heavy industry, data centres, semiconductor production and renewable energy facilities. Circuits, response times and ratings are not given in the available materials.

Questions and answers

What ratings and voltages do the SVC compensators have?

According to the manufacturer's overview brochure, SVC compensators are made for voltages of 380–440 V, 6.6 kV and 22.9 kV with ratings from 500 kVA to 100 MVA.

What ratings and voltages are available for the DVR voltage restorers?

Ratings of 100, 200, 300 and 500 kVA, as well as 1000 and 2000 kVA. Voltages of 200, 380 and 440 V, 6.6 kV and 22.9 kV.

Which networks are the APF active filters intended for?

For three-phase three-wire (3P3W) and four-wire (3P4W) networks rated 100–400 kVA. The filters suppress higher harmonics from frequency converters, rectifiers and UPS units.
