Medium-voltage detuned and current-limiting reactors for capacitor banks
MV reactors for capacitor banks and harmonic filters. Detuned reactors and inrush current limiting reactors are available, which limit resonances and switching-on current surges.
- Types
- detuned reactors, inrush current limiting reactors
- Purpose
- protection of capacitors from overload by higher harmonics and from current surges during switching, harmonic filters

Description
A detuned reactor connected in series with the capacitors protects them from overload by higher harmonics. An inrush current limiting reactor reduces current surges during switching of the bank. The same reactors are used as part of harmonic filters. The reactors are selected for the rating and voltage of the particular capacitor bank.
