Description
The capacitors are made for reactive power compensation units, higher-harmonic filters and series compensation in 6–35 kV networks, as well as film DC-link capacitors for converters. High-voltage capacitors operate in 50 or 60 Hz AC networks. They compensate inductive reactive power, raise the power factor, reduce losses and increase network capacity.
A high-voltage capacitor consists of a removable element, a case and porcelain bushings. The element is assembled from sections connected in series and in parallel for the required voltage, with insulating parts and built-in discharge resistors. The case is welded from stainless steel, with lugs on the side walls for mounting and earthing. The main insulation to earth is combined. Internal fuses with an oil gap for arc extinction selectively disconnect damaged sections, leakage through the seals is below 0.1% a year, and the insulating oil has good low-temperature characteristics and low partial discharges.
The shunt BAM11/√3-334-1W is rated 334 kvar at 11/√3 kV, with a capacitance of 26.36 µF and a current of 52.59 A. The filter AAM5.2-300-1W is rated 300 kvar at 5.2 kV, and the series CAM3-250-1W 250 kvar at 3 kV. The insulation level is 42/75 kV and the temperature category is −40/B. The fire-resistant BAMY12/√3-334-1FH of 334 kvar is filled with benzyltoluene, and the space between the inner and outer tanks with a water-based fire-extinguishing compound; it is installed in enclosed rooms with increased fire safety requirements. The protective FAM18-0.4 (18 kV, 0.4 µF, without fuses, tan δ no more than 0.018%) has high impulse strength and clips steep overvoltage fronts.
The DC-link capacitors DKMJ2.8 (2800 V, 7500/8000/9000 µF, 750 A) are installed in the valve submodules of VSC transmission, where they store energy on the DC side and damp voltage oscillations. They are made of self-healing metallised polypropylene film and filled with dry polyurethane resin. They withstand high ripple and peak currents and have low self-inductance and a long service life. The DKMJ1.1-600 (1100 V, 600 µF) and DKMJ0.8-750 in an aluminium case are used in SVG and inverters, smoothing the DC bus voltage and limiting its oscillations during faults.
