Current transformers, 15 kV class, 125–8000 A
Current transformers of the 15 kV voltage class are intended for medium voltage networks and accurate current measurement in protection, monitoring and control circuits. The range covers six three-phase short-circuit current ranges, from 125–250 A to 4000–8000 A. They are installed at utility, industrial and power plant facilities.

Description
A current transformer converts the primary current of a circuit into a proportionally smaller secondary current, which is fed to relays, instruments and controllers. Transformers of this class work in medium voltage networks and are needed wherever the operation of relay protection depends on measurement. The 15 kV voltage class corresponds to 6–15 kV networks, so these transformers are placed near medium voltage generators and in switchgear. Typical installation points are medium voltage generators, 6–15 kV switchgear, excitation systems and industrial power systems.
The range consists of six versions, each designed for its own three-phase short-circuit current range: 125–250 A (BE34704001), 250–500 A (BE34705001), 500–1000 A (BE34706001), 1000–2000 A (BE34707001), 2000–4000 A (BE34708001) and 4000–8000 A (BE34709001). The range is chosen according to the calculated short-circuit current in the circuit where the transformer is installed, from 125–250 A for smaller circuits to 4000–8000 A for powerful generator connections. The numbers BE34704001 to BE34709001 follow the increasing ranges, so the versions are easy to match against the table.
As an example, the BE34707001 model for 1000–2000 A has a turns ratio of 1:69, meaning there are 69 secondary turns for each primary turn. According to the manufacturer's description, the construction is robust and designed for accurate measurement and long-term operation under harsh conditions.
The transformers are used together with equipment from the same manufacturer: excitation support and current forcing systems, voltage regulators and generator controllers. In such schemes the generator current is used for supply or measurement. A separate application is relay protection circuits. For generator circuits they are paired with the voltage regulators and controllers of the same manufacturer, which simplifies the matching of measuring circuits. The application covers utility, industrial and power plant facilities.
For low voltage systems, similar current transformers are produced for the same ranges; this is the BE25925–BE25930 series. The final model is selected by the short-circuit current, voltage class and connection scheme, and the selection is coordinated with a manager.
