Description
GETEST 5…50 A (MPC-5/50) simulates an indirect contact with earth. The instrument measures the step voltage between points on the ground surface and the touch voltage between the ground and accessible conductive parts when current flows away through the earthing system. In Spain such measurements are mandatory for transformer and distribution centres under MIE-RAT-13 (RD 337/2014). The current source is connected between remote earthing points, and the voltage is taken between two weight electrodes 1 m apart or between the ground and a conductive part.
Current is injected for only one mains period (20 ms), so the measurement is safe for personnel. On a 12 Ohm load the instrument delivers up to 50 A, the maximum output voltage is 700 V AC, and the equivalent power is 30 kVA. The voltage measuring range is 0.8–700 V with auto-ranging, current up to 100 A, earth resistance 0–120 Ohm. Accuracy is 2.5 % of reading ± 2 counts. The instrument is controlled over a wireless link from the supplied smartphone or tablet; results are stored on the device and then transferred to a PC. The supply is 230 V ±20 %, 15 A, and a trolley and measuring electrodes are included. The instrument complies with UNE-EN 61010-1 and UNE-EN 61326-1.
MD-10kVr belongs to the MD-MI series of digital megohmmeters. It applies a test voltage of 10 kV and weighs 6 kg, so it is easy to carry between cells. The megohmmeter measures the insulation resistance of cables, power transformers, motors and switchgear before commissioning and during scheduled checks. The result is compared with earlier measurements, which shows the ageing of cable or winding insulation.
MH-10/100u is a microprocessor-based portable micro-ohmmeter for very low resistances. The test current is set from 1 mA to 100 A, and the 4-wire circuit (Kelvin bridge) means that the resistance of the current leads does not affect the result. The instrument compares the measured value with highly stable internal references, shows it on an alphanumeric display and transmits it over USB. It is used to check breaker contacts, busbars, and transformer and motor windings in MV centres and at substations. Together the three instruments cover the checking of earthing, insulation and contact joints at one site.
