i-Trafo is a distribution transformer with a built-in ECOTAP VPD OLTC. It automatically keeps the voltage stable in the distribution network when the MV voltage, the load or the generation on the LV side change.

Description
The ECOTAP VPD device is made by a specialist tap changer manufacturer, and the steps are switched under load, without de-energising. A conventional non-regulated transformer has to be switched off and re-tapped manually to change the tap. In the i-Trafo this operation is performed automatically. The regulation compensates MV voltage fluctuations and changes of load or generation on the LV side, so the transformer is installed in substations where the LV network has own sources or loads with a sharp profile.
