CTS 12, CTS 25, CTS 38 — indoor post-type current transformers 12–38.5 kV
CTS 12, CTS 25 and CTS 38 are post-type instrument current transformers with cast epoxy insulation for indoor medium-voltage switchgear at 12/17.5, 24 and 38.5 kV. They are installed in revenue and technical metering circuits and in relay protection circuits. Primary current from 5 A to 3200 A, secondary 5 A or 1 A.

Description
The range consists of three groups. At 12/17.5 kV there are CTS 12, CTS 12.L, CTS 12.LW, CTS 12.W and CTS 12.G, at 24 kV CTS 25, CTS 25.1, CTS 25.SW, CTS 25X and the Sch, B, C versions, at 38.5 kV CTS 38, CTS 38X and CTS 38.41W. The primary current of CTS 12 reaches 3200 A, CTS 25 and CTS 38.41W up to 2500 A, CTS 38 up to 2000 A, X versions up to 600 A. Rated burden 2.5–60 VA.
Measuring windings are made in accuracy classes 0.2, 0.5, 0.2S, 0.5S, 1 and 3, protection windings in classes 5P, 10P and PX. The stated class is kept within 25–100 % of the rated burden. Secondary current is 5 A or 1 A, a combination is possible. For CTS 25 the manufacturer gives a short-time thermal current up to 80 kA for 1 s (31.5 kA for 3 s), a dynamic current up to 200 kA and a continuous thermal current of 120 % In.
The primary winding is single-turn or multi-turn. The transformation ratio is changed on both the secondary and the primary side; for this the corresponding terminals are connected with two M8 screw links, and the screws and links are included in the set. The secondary cores are wound from grain-oriented electrical steel or from permalloy, and their number is from 1 to 4 at the customer request. All active parts are cast in epoxy compound, which works both as insulation and as the supporting structure. Enlarged versions such as CTS 12.LW (height 210 mm, weight 29 kg) have higher short-circuit withstand, greater burden and a higher safety factor.
CTS 12, CTS 25 and CTS 25X can have a built-in voltage indicator. A capacitive divider is cast into the body, and a cable interface and a VDS indicator of class HR according to ČSN EN 61243-5 with components from Georg Jordan GmbH are connected to the Ck terminal in the terminal box. The state voltage absent is indicated below 10 % Un, voltage present above 45 % Un.
The mounting position is arbitrary, the transformer is fixed with four screws through holes in the base. For replacing old transformers of various manufacturers, CTS are supplied on adapted bases with the same mounting dimensions. Testing was carried out according to ČSN EN/IEC 61869-1 and 61869-2. The transformers are installed in 6–35 kV switchgear cells of distribution networks and industrial substations.
