Description
CTSO 38 and its version CTSO 38L are rated for a highest operating voltage of 38.5 kV; the manufacturer's page gives 36/38.5 kV. The AC test voltage is 70/80 kV, the impulse 170/180 kV. The creepage distance of 1257 mm corresponds to pollution level IV, that is 31 mm/kV for 38.5 kV. Thermal withstand current is up to 80 kA for 1 s (31.5 kA for 3 s), dynamic up to 200 kA, continuous thermal current 120 % In. Weight 60 kg, operating temperature from −40 to +40 °C, frequency 50 Hz, insulation thermal class E.
The secondary current is 5 A or 1 A, with a possible combination. Measuring circuits have classes 0.2, 0.5, 0.2S, 0.5S, 1 and 3, protective ones 5P and 10P. The specified class is maintained in the range of 25–100 % of rated burden, with a burden of 5–60 VA. The safety factor of the measuring windings is FS 5 or FS 10, and the accuracy limit factor of the protective windings is selected from 5 to 30.
The primary winding is single-turn or multi-turn. The transformation ratio is switchable on the secondary and on the primary side; for primary switching, the terminals are connected with two links on M8 screws, and the links and screws are included. The cores are wound from oriented magnetic materials or with permalloy (an alloy of nickel, iron and copper), and there are 1 to 3 of them at the customer's request. All active parts are cast in epoxy compound resistant to ultraviolet and moisture, which works both as insulation and as a mechanical base.
The transformer is fastened with four M12 screws through holes in the base, and the primary terminals also have M12 screws. The secondary circuits are connected with cable lugs matched to the wire cross-section. The secondary terminal box is watertight (IP65) and can be sealed, and inside there are links and screws for earthing and short-circuiting the windings. To replace old transformers of other manufacturers, CTSO 38 is supplied on adapted bases with the same mounting dimensions. Tests were carried out according to IEC 61869-1, IEC 61869-2, IEC 60060-1, GOST 15150 for T1 and UHL1, GOST 1516.3-96 and GOST 7746-2001.
CTO 15 is an outdoor post current transformer for networks up to 15 kV with a primary current of 5–600 A and a burden of 5–60 VA. Both types are used in outdoor switchgear and at commercial metering points on 6–35 kV overhead lines, on reclosers and sectionalizing points, and at outdoor substations of industrial enterprises and renewable energy facilities.
